2011- 2012 BOARD OF TRUSTEES

Christine Vargas -Board President -  Parent Member

Christine Vargas is a parent member of the Board of Trustees, is Board President and member of the Governance Committee.  She has been with the school since 2001, and previously served as an Executive Board Member and Relocation Chair during her previous term with the Board of Trustees.  Christine is the owner of Vargas Associates, a local Facilities Project Management and Interior Design firm.  She has a B.S. in Engineering from Rochester Institute of Technology and is LEED AP Certified (Leadership in Energy and Environmental Design).   Christine is also a member of the National Association of Women in Construction.

Garland Nichols - Board Vice President - Parent Board Member

Garland joined the BOT in April 2010. She and her husband have two children, one in the primary program with Mrs Van Vechten and one in the elementary program with Mrs Landis. Garland earned her PhD in Polymer Science from the University of Connecticut and her MBA from Rochester Institute of Technology. Currently, she works for Xerox in Product Marketing, however she’s held previous positions in research, engineering, product delivery, business operations and marketing. She also holds many US patents during her stint in research. She truly enjoys continuous learning as she also earned her Lean Six Sigma Black Belt certification at Xerox. Her other interests also include sailing, skiing, running, and cooking.

Marcos Esterman - Parent Member

Marcos Esterman joined the BOT in 2009. All three of his children have attended Montessori dating back to 2001 (one child is currently at WMS). Marcos is an Associate Professor in the Industrial and Systems Engineering Department at the Rochester Institute of Technology. His teaching interests are in product and process development, and systems engineering. He is also the co-director of the Sustainable Print Systems Laboratory. Prior to joining the RIT faculty, Marcos worked for Hewlett-Packard’s Imaging and Printing Division in Boise, Idaho, and at General Electric Medical Systems in Milwaukee, Wisconsin. Marcos earned a PhD in Mechanical Engineering from Stanford University and his BSME and MSME form the Massachusetts Institute of Technology.

Heidi LaDuca - Chair Policy & Procedures

Heidi LaDuca is a parent member of the Board of Trustees and is chair of the Policy and Procedures Committee. Heidi and her husband Anthony have four children with their youngest being a student in Mrs. Van Vechten's primary classroom. Heidi and her husband, Anthony are both practicing attorneys having obtained their Juris Doctor from Capital University Law School in 1994. Heidi is also the Owner and manager of Characters Corner Vacation home and a fitness instructor at the Bayview YMCA. Heidi also serves as volunteer legal counsel to the United Church of Christ in Webster.

Robert Carroll - Parent Member

Rob Carroll joined the BOT in September 2009 as well as chairing of the Marketing Committee. Through his two daughter’s enrollment as primary students in Mrs. Vargas' class, he became a proponent of Montessori education. Rob has been involved in digital mapping technology and business development over the past 20 years and is currently president of the International Division of Pictometry, a Rochester-based global imagery information company. Over the past 15 years, he has had several senior executive positions in entrepreneurial organizations in Denver, CO. Rob and his family have lived in the Webster community for the past four years and originate from the Toronto area.
