PRIMARY

Primary Montessori classes are for children ages 3 to 6 years. First year students (generally the 3 year olds) attend 5 days a week from 8:45 AM to 11:45 AM. Students in their second and third years (4 and 5 year olds) attend an extended session from 8:45 AM to 3:15 PM.

The Montessori Primary Program is a three-year cycle to take advantage of the full development of the child that is possible during these years. The average class makeup is a mixed age group of three, four and five year olds. Children in all three age groups learn together during the morning, and the older children continue into the afternoon.

The more experienced children are able to help and share what they have learned with the younger children and those new to the group. Within a family-like atmosphere, the individual personality and strengths of each child are nurtured.

The children focus on lessons in the areas of:

  • Geography
  • Language
  • Mathematics
  • Botany
  • Practical life
  • Science
  • Physical Education (Extension students only)
