Opening of Second Elementary Classroom Announced

Webster Montessori School’s Board of Trustees is proud to announce the availability of a second elementary classroom slated to open for the Fall 2014-2015 school year. This second elementary class is being added in response to the community’s growing demand for quality Montessori programming.

Head of School Jacqueline Griebel said, “Webster Montessori School has a long history of providing quality care and education for children in this community. The school has grown considerably since it opened in 1967 as a one room pre-school and we are excited about the expanded building we now own.”

She continued, "In addition to our solid pre-school program, our classes for Toddler and Elementary age students have seen significant increases over the last few years and now operate with waiting lists. We are excited to be able to provide additional Elementary opportunities for those seeking choices for their children this fall."

Webster Montessori School’s Elementary classroom provides rich academic opportunities for children ages 6 to 12. Covering all topics in education, the Montessori science and mathematics curriculum is particularly notable as children are guided to use innovative thinking to master these important skills.

The Montessori Elementary Program seeks to instill within the child a respect for all life and an understanding of their unique place and purpose in the world. As their reasoning skills develop and understanding progresses to the abstract, and local to global, the students are challenged to imagine life from other perspectives.

The development of research skills, critical thinking and logical analysis skills, provide a solid foundation for lifelong learning. This occurs in a classroom context of social interaction that promotes successful collaboration skills and an environment where the compassion of children for each other is exercised.

Physical education and music instruction are integral aspects of the program. After school activities are available in Drama, Chess, Dance and Foreign Language.

Board of Trustees Chairperson Garland Nichols said, “This addition will enable us to rebalance the mix of students and offer a smaller, more favorable classroom size.  The two elementary classrooms will work together to provide the best Montessori experience for our children.”

An Open House is planned for Tuesday, March 26 from 9-11 am or 6-7:30 pm for those interested in learning about the Montessori method of teaching and enrolling at Webster Montessori School.

Ms. Griebel said, “This is the time of year when we begin to enroll students for the upcoming school year. With the addition of our new classroom we expect to have a record number of inquiries. We highly recommend early enrollment to secure your child’s place at WMS.”
